John William Harper III, 68, of Hardeeville, S.C. passed away on March 9, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 21, 1955, in Ridgeland S.C. to Mr. John William Harper Jr. and the late Mrs. Dorothy Rachels Harper.
Mr. Harper loved to assemble model cars, was an avid race car fan and enjoyed helping friends work on their race cars. John could do anything he set his mind to, and it was evident when he restored antique firearms and set his mind to a project. Everything he did had to be to perfection. He loved his pets and watching them play in the house. Helping others was important to him, but he never wanted any recognition and tried to do it quietly and without fanfare.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, of 29 years, Sylvia Harper, father, J.W. Harper Jr., stepmother Dell Harper, sister, Linda Nease (Dexter), step sister Sheila Bryan, whom he considered his sister, sister in law, LaTrelle Thompson, brother in law Herschel Thompson (Sheryl) nieces: Melinda, Alicia, Tanya and nephew, Jason.
He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Ned Thompson, Sr. mother-in-law, Ellen Thompson, and brother-in-law Ned Thompson Jr.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 16,2024 at 11:00AM at the Marine Rescue Squadron, 55 Millstone Landing Road, Hardeeville, S.C. 29927.
Memorial donations may be made to Jasper County Animal Rescue Mission (JARM) P.O. Box 1179 Ridgeland, S.C. 29936.
