Christine Williams Stone, 80, of Ridgeland, SC passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Coastal Carolina Hospital. She was born in Savannah, GA on January 14, 1944, to the late Albert W. Williams and Mamie Carter Williams Millner.
She spent much of her childhood and early adult years in Virginia where she began her career as a sewing machine operator. She moved to South Carolina in 1976 and spent the remainder of her career in various manufacturing companies also as a sewing machine operator. She retired to nurse her husband, Charles H. Stone, back to health after his leukemia diagnosis in 2004.
Christine enjoyed working in her flower garden where she grew beautiful roses. She loved to bake and pound cakes for loved ones for their birthdays were her specialty. She was an avid reader, took great pride in decorating her home, and she loved Christmas. She was a talented seamstress who shared her talents with many loved ones including alterations, crafts, making pageant dresses and other clothes, and upholstering furniture. There was nothing that her hands couldn’t do.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Jesse Keatts, Jr. (April) of Hardeeville, SC; two daughters, Lisa Humbert (Eddie) also of Hardeeville, SC and Tina McLemore (Bruce) of Ridgeland, SC; a stepson, Edwin Stone of Las Vegas, NV; four grandsons, Jeffery Keatts (Ashley) of Hardeeville, SC; Christopher Humbert of Concord, NC; Edward “Trace” Lowther, III of Ridgeland, SC; and Jesse Keatts, III of Neeses, SC; many step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; three sisters, Kathleen Bates (Danny) and Charlotte Segura, both of Springfield, GA, and Teri Brabham (Kevin) of Guyton, GA.
Christine was predeceased by her parents, and her husband, Charles H. Stone, as well as a brother, Floyd Williams, a sister, Josephine Carroll, and two grandchildren, Travis Priester and Kelsie DeByle.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Vaigneur Funeral Home, 6802 Tillman Road, Ridgeland, SC. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
